Freelance Speak Up Artist

Ongoing recruitment

Freelance Creatives – Part Time/Casual

Ongoing Recruitment

The Landmark and Queens Theatres are looking to recruit a team of freelance creatives, interested to work in schools on Speak Up; a new secondary school programme led by the National Theatre that aims to inspire a movement of young people, who want to speak up about the issues that matter to them – in their schools, their communities and nationally. Young people will work collaboratively with their teachers, artists, local arts organisations to make artworks and creative projects.

We are looking for artists with experience in all areas of creative practice – visual arts, dance, theatre and media arts etc – to deliver and facilitate a programme of workshops in Speak Up schools across North Devon over the next three years.

If you are ceramicist, filmmaker, graphic artist, theatre maker, DJ (or a practitioner in any other art form) this project could be for you. Find out more about Speak Up on the National Theatre website here

We are looking for two types of artist for this project:

Speak Up Representative
Speak Up Reps will work with groups in the initial phases of the project over approximately a ten-week period. They will support groups of young people to explore the issues that concern them and help them to plan the creative projects they want to undertake. Speak Up Reps will have their own area of practice in addition to skills as a facilitator and enabler.

Speak Up artists – Practitioners
Speak Up artist practitioners may deliver one-off workshops for young people in their skill area, or may be called on to deliver a longer project in response to the priorities set by the young people.
