ART

Sat 16 Mar

Art is a very clever comedy about friendship and of course a very expensive painting.

Serge has bought a modern painting for a huge sum of money. Marc hates it and cannot believe that a friend of his could possibly want such a work. Yvan attempts, unsuccessfully, to placate both sides. If your friendship is based on tacit mutual agreement what happens when one person does something completely different and unexpected? Art, winner of the Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy of the Year received its British premiere at Wyndham’s Theatre, London in 1994 starring Albert Finney, Tom Courtenay and Ken stott.

ART has not been released for amature production very often and Up close are very privileged to be given permission to do this funny, challenging and touching play.

Up close is a community touring company based in North Devon and is pleased to be back at the Landmark after nearly 6 years. Last time we brought the hugely successful, Yes Prime minister and after that we trod the boards of the Queens theatre with, Jeeves & Wooster.

Up close takes on challenging and different theatre.

We look forward to seeing you at the Landmark.
