What is The Landmarkers?
A brand-new, six-day summer school where children and young people will:
• Learn high-quality musical theatre skills – from singing and acting to choreography
• Work alongside industry-leading professionals – actors, directors, musical directors and choreographers currently working in the theatre world
• Rehearse and perform a brand-new adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream – created especially for young performers by Landmark Theatres’ Creative Director, Paul Jepson
• Experience life inside a professional, working theatre – the only opportunity of its kind in Barnstaple!
Over the week, participants will bring this exciting adaptation to life, featuring well-known songs, accessible and lively choreography, and live music – culminating in a performance on the Queens Theatre mainstage on Saturday 16th August.
Who is it for?
Children and young people aged 9–13 and 14–18, of all abilities and experience levels.
Whether your young person is stepping into the world of theatre for the first time or already dreams of a career in the arts, they’ll find inspiration, challenge, and fun here.
• Ages 9–13: Perfect for those with a love of musical theatre, drama and group performance. Build confidence, develop new skills, make new friends, and discover what it’s like to work in a professional theatre environment.
• Ages 14–18: Ideal for young people seriously considering a future in theatre or performance. A rare opportunity to work closely with professional creatives on a brand-new piece, gaining high-level insight, experience, and coaching.
Who will they work with?
Our team includes experienced, DBS-checked industry professionals – actors, directors, musical directors, and choreographers – bringing real-world knowledge, energy and passion to every rehearsal.
Schedule
• Monday–Friday: 9.30am–5pm
• Saturday: 12.30pm–8.30pm (Performance at 7pm)
Extras
All children and young people who take part in the summer school will be given a Landmarkers t-shirt.
Children and young people who take part will also be offered an exclusive opportunity to attend a free dress rehearsal for this year’s panto, Aladdin, along with a chance to meet the performers and creative team.
Price
£130 per person for the week.
Bursary places can be made available and we understand that paying the full amount in one installment may not be manageable for everyone, and we want to ensure the programme is as accessible as possible.
